“New Beginnings.” That phrase brings up so many thoughts. A clean slate, a new door opening, a change in life-season.
The new year has come and gone. Like many people, I’ve finally adapted to writing ‘2017’ without error. And also like many people, I’ve made new years resolutions that have already been broken them. Perhaps you can relate?
While it is good to set new goals in your homeschool and family, many times implementing them is difficult. Never fear, because God’s view on new beginnings never fails.
What exactly does the Bible says about “beginnings”.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.” Psalm 102:25
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.” Psalm 111:10
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.” 1 John 1:1
“He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.’” Revelation 21:6
So instead of feeling like a failure for resolutions that have already been broken, I’ll go back to the very basics and allow the Lord to put the rest of my year in order, HIS order.
No ups, no extras, just concentrating on the Lord first and everything else next. I trust the rest of the pieces to fall into place. I’ll rest in the knowledge that my Creator already knows my future and loves me in spite of those areas that need a new beginning.
And that’s a promise you can claim too!
