Undoubtedly, what the world needs first and foremost is a Savior! Second to that, what we all need is peace. Whether it’s out in public or within the family, peace needs to first be established in the home.
During this unprecedented time of uncertainty, here are some favorite verses to help you settle your heart and in turn, help you teach your children about God’s peace. As you keep your eyes on Him, He will keep you in perfect peace.
“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.” Isaiah 54:13
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8
“Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.” Psalm 119:165
Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11
“A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Psalm 23:1-6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isiah 41:10
Study these for yourself and then help your children learn them. Post them on note cards throughout the house, use them for memorization and copywork, and for older children, teach them how to use scripture in their journals!
