It’s preseason time. Football you ask? No! Cold and flu season!

Cold and flu season is right around the corner. Even though your children aren’t in a regular school setting, they do come in contact with the masses. Trips to the grocery store, malls, the library, or even at co-ops. There are some things you can do now to prepare your household for the onslaught of germs. Prudence says to prepare your medicine cabinet and take the appropriate steps now to make sure the flu season is short-lived in your house.

Some easy immune boosting tips are to drink enough water daily, forgo surgery drinks and foods, get adequate sleep, do some sort of physical activity, go to sleep at a reasonable hour and eat your foods as close to the way God created them with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Get extra vitamin C by squeezing fresh lemon into your daily water intake.

Consider immune-boosting supplements. One supplement that has really helped our household is taking Elderberry Syrup. This can be homemade or bought from the store. Elderberry goes a long way in helping to ensure the flu doesn’t take root in your house.

Other great things to have on hand are Epsom Salts, for taking a hot soaking bath for body aches, Vitamin C and Zinc. Remember that good common sense includes ample soap for hand washing and staying home if you aren’t feeling well.

The decision for other over the counter medication is entirely up to your household. There are many different trains of thoughts concerning this and so it’s up to each household to do their own research and act accordingly.
