What does your breakfast routine look like? Is it a free for all where the kids raid the kitchen? Do you wake up at the crack of dawn and fix a hot meal before they rise and shine? Do you have pre-made goodies such a homemade bread or casseroles ready to heat up and serve? These are three approaches that I’ve attempted over the years and they all have their own pros and cons. I’m a day-by-day homeschooler. Even though I have a schedule and a plan for how my school year should go- I do change it up when I need to. Yes, we school year round but our school days look different during the months directly following the birth of a new baby than it does at other times. We also adjust our schedule in the summer months, when out-of-town guests visit and around holidays. We might look like unschoolers one part of the year, Charlotte Mason schoolers another part and boxed curriculum junkies the rest of the time.

I’m not opposed to routine, I do set one up, but, I am not a slave to it! Whether it’s my schooling, or my breakfast habits, I thrive on flexibility!
