Well, I am in a season where I am no stranger to heartache. I suffered a miscarriage this past fall, and I am facing another right now. It seems that my emotions are all over the place: full of hope in one moment, devastation in the next; grasping for faith but feeling drained and confused. I know God loves me and has a plan in all of this. But it is very difficult to sort through things when I feel that I can’t see my way. What am I to do?
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
-Psalm 119:105
Sisters, if any of you is in a similar boat–facing a very tough situation, not sure what to do–there is hope and there is something we can do: cling to God’s Word.
Sounds too simple, doesn’t it? Maybe so, but it is necessary, especially when we feel unsteady and unsure. This is the time when we need saturation in the Truth found only in God’s Word. It is the true light in the darkness.
Proclaim His truth to yourself, whisper His words over and over again. Strengthen your soul by the power of His Word and by doing so we are reminded to put our trust in Him, that His promises are sure, that He does care about what we are experiencing.
God loves us, we are His children and He is a good, good Father. Even when we don’t understand our circumstances, even when we are facing immense pain, He is right there with us.
I want to encourage you to dive into the Word, in the midst of your tears, jump in and stay connected to His truth. I’ve listed below some Scriptures from the Psalms and Isaiah that are a comfort and a help to me, strengthening me when I can’t see my way. I pray they are a blessing for you.
But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my
head. -Psalm 3:3
I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry. -Psalm 40:1
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble. -Psalm 46:1
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! -Psalm 34:8
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all. -Psalm 34:17-19
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God,
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; -Isaiah 43:2-3
Dear Sisters, cling to the LORD, in good times and in bad. Declare His Word and be strengthened.
