It was the day of our Homeschooling Support Group’s Elementary Curriculum Share and I was nervous. Scratch that, I was terrified!
This was the first year I was “behind the wheel” so to speak and I wanted everything to run perfectly. I knew I probably couldn’t pack the same spiritual wallop as my predecessor and mentor. But, to some extent I still felt responsible for the spiritual health of the younger portion of our group.
God had recently refocused my energies and efforts. Prior to this, I had spent almost 3 years wallowing after the birth of baby number 4. I was just struggling to hold my head above water! During this period the group went through a much needed split into elementary and middle school/high school portions. Also during this time, many families went their own way. Some to find vibrantly active groups and some to lead groups of their own. Who could blame them?
After praying and waiting for a replacement, I was surprised at the Lord’s blessing to “restart” my efforts with the younger group. Though not nearly as active and connected as I once was, with the Lord’s help I’m encouraged to start small and re-build relationships one at a time. My focus is not on activities, but on encouragement and relationships as we run the race.
Encourage Others Within Your Homeschooling Circles to Keep Their Eyes on the Prize

In the course of running the race and keeping up with the Homeschooling Jones’ it is so easy to loose focus.
We must consistently remember to keep our eyes on the prize – the reason why we started homeschooling.
Homeschooling isn’t just providing an education. It is investing our emotional, physical and mental energies into molding and shaping future adults who will live for Christ, impact their world for Jesus and raise the next generation for the Great I Am!
We cannot do that without keeping our eyes on the prize and encouraging one another to do the same.
