Being a wife and a homeschooling mother is not for the faint of heart. I am tremendously blessed to be in this role and I wouldn’t trade it for any other. Although I am grateful to have a strong home & family life, I am not immune from hardships. Just like anyone else who loves what they get to do each day, some days can be trying and downright discouraging. The demands can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving you drained with nothing left to give.
If this is you, I’d like to encourage your heart today. I have been through a good stretch of trials lately, with various ups and downs leaving my heart feeling burdened and heavy for weeks. In the midst of crying out to the Father, He reminded me, “I lift up your head.”
But You, oh LORD,
are a shield for me,
my glory, and the One
who lifts up my head.
-Psalm 3:3
At that moment, I was refreshed with the truth. God literally lifts up my head. He is the Source of my entire life. He is the One I should look to for encouragement and protection, no matter what I am facing–including marriage, raising children, homeschooling, homemaking, and all the other things. He is my refuge, my place of safety and rest. I knew these things in the back of my mind, but while I stood in the kitchen that day, tears streaming down my face, this loving reminder washed over me anew. I am so grateful for the sweet Holy Spirit who gently reminded me that I am not walking this journey alone.
So I’d like to encourage you–if you’re hurting, if you’ve been wronged, if you’re overwhelmed, if you can’t figure it out, whatever it is–take it to the LORD in prayer. Don’t give up hope, don’t abandon your responsibilities in your home, don’t lose faith, don’t seek revenge. Seek God; draw near to Him. Drink in His Word. God is faithful. He is true. He will sustain you.
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
-Psalm 46:1
