On those days that the weather has you trapped indoors, why not have a snowman party with your preschooler? Even if it isn’t snowman-building weather outside, go ahead and get the fun going indoors! Below are ten items that you most likely have in your home, or can purchase inexpensively, e.g., a dollar store so you can easily entertain your preschooler!

  1. Doilies: Hand your preschooler a piece of construction paper, a glue stick, three doilies, googly eyes, and a pack of markers. Have them create a snowman using the doilies, gluing the pieces to the construction paper. After gluing on the eyes, let them get creative with the markers. Encourage them to create an orange, carrot nose, black eyes and black dots for a mouth. Let them use their imagination when it comes to creating a scarf, buttons, har, or any other accessories they want.

  1. Cotton Balls: Using a blue piece of construction paper, an orange piece of construction paper, cotton balls, and glue, your child will have a blast creating this 3-D art! Take the glue and create three large snowballs on  the blue piece of construction paper. Fill them in completely with glue. Then, have your child fill the three snowballs with cotton balls being sure to push each one down firmly enough to stick. Cut out eyes, a nose, a mouth, and buttons out of the orange construction paper and have your child glue them onto the snowman.

  1. Tissue Paper: Little ones love the thrill of ripping up tissue paper! Create a snowman on a piece of paper with a black marker. Hand your child a glue stick and the ripped, white, tissue paper and let them go to town! Once they have created their three snowballs using white tissue paper, hand them some googly eyes to add and a precut nose, mouth, hat, and scarf and you are set!

  1. Paper Plates: Cut out the center of a white, paper plate, large enough for your child to place his face through. Glue two paper plates to your first plate to make a snowman. Decorate the middle plate with buttons. Take fun and silly pictures with your child as a snowman, photo booth style!

  1. White Socks: This one is simple and fun. Take a sock and fill with stuffing (or old fabric). Form into a snowman using rubber bands. Hand to your child to decorate with markers.
