Fall is my absolute favorite season. The weather is cooler. The air feels more crisp and clean. The smells of wood and leaves and cinnamon hang in the air. Did I mention…pumpkins? But fall offers many new things to study, too!

When we go apple picking we don’t buy a ton. We get enough to make a batch of homemade applesauce as well as one apple pie (per my husband’s request). We do a little study about apples ahead of time so my boys know how apples grow and such. We have a lot of fun with it.

After reading several books, hearing different speakers, and talking to some homeschool friends, I came to the conclusion that more is not necessarily better. Doing cursive handwriting at four years old does not make my child any smarter than if he learns at nine years old.

Homeschooling doesn’t allow for much time alone. It is so crucial for me to get in my quiet time with the Lord. If I miss it, I can definitely tell. With three boys under the age of 8, it is very hard to get any peace and quiet at all. I have to sneak in quiet time throughout the day when I can.
