It’s easy to turn to tech on a rainy day, which can hold the kids over for a short while, but why not consider stocking up a few random items to bring out as a surprise. I already shared with some sugary treats to whip up in the kitchen with the kids and some high energy games to enjoy afterwards. Once they have exhausted as many games as possible, settle down to a good book. As homeschoolers, we tend to be in the middle of a particular book or two at a time but why not have special picture books stored up for a rainy day? The following list includes several picture books, some even award winning, that will capture the hearts of young and old alike!
Weslandia by Paul Fleischman
The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
Jumanji by Chris Van Allsburg
It Could Be Worse by James Stevenson
The Emperor and the Kite by Jane Yolen
The Moon Jumpers by Janice May Udry
One Morning in Maine Robert McKloskey
Song of the Swallows by Leo Politi
Stone Soup by Marcia Brown
