In this lesson, we will study jungles and one of their beautiful inhabitants—monkeys. So far in this series, we’ve studied the elements of art: line, shape, texture and color. We will introduce the next element of art in this lesson: value. First, we’ll look at jungle paintings by master artist Henri Rousseau, and learn how he interpreted their values of color. Then we’ll use the elements of art, line, shape, color and value to create our own pictures. In Project 1, we’ll paint monochromatic leaves around a monkey face. In Project 2, we’ll be adding texture to create a cartoon jungle scene.

This is so fabulous! This is such quality art and I love the guided art instruction and the samples…all of it. I love every bit of it. I am so excited to happen upon this. My 11 year old was inspired and really did a great job with it. This doesn’t feel daunting for me to get art in with the kids. Thank you for providing this!
