How do your pets work in to your homeschool (if at all)?

My wife and I just got a couple sheep, and both of us grew up at least part of our years raising chickens and other animals. Though we won’t be “officially” homeschooling for several years probably, I’m curious to find out and get ideas on how y’all utilize the opportunities of the animals you own to create educational moments. I can think of a few general areas: biology (especially if your animals are for meat: butchering = dissection lab!); character training (responsibility), etc.

So, what pets do you have, and how have you incorporated them into your childrens’ education?
