What do you think: in what ways and how well are children able to teach themselves? And is Mr. Mitra right — can a machine replace a teacher?
To sum up my thoughts: think about some of the greatest inventors/scientists/leaders from history. Many of them were very self-directed in learning, even for complex subjects. And no, I don’t think a machine can ever completely replace a teacher (even computer-based programs today can’t actively teach; they can only spit out what a teacher has put in).
